Temperature and humidity monitoring in production and storage areas
Continuous monitoring of environmental conditions across production areas, warehouses, cold rooms and logistics zones. The solution provides automated measurements, alerts when thresholds are exceeded and archives audit-ready data for downstream integration with operational systems.
Four reasons why this is a reliable choice
Continuous monitoring of multiple points
Sensors operate around the clock and collect data from selected zones without manual inspections or periodic readings.
Sensors approved for hygienic areas
FDA-compliant devices are suitable for areas where quality requirements, repeatability and procedural compliance are essential.
Audit-ready data from day one
Measurement history, alarms and threshold exceedances are archived in ITS and available for review, reporting and export.
Cable-free installation and easy expansion
LoRaWAN reduces installation work, while additional measurement points can be added gradually as the facility expands.
What the solution includes
-
Temperature and humidity sensor, LoRaWAN (FDA compliant) View in our store →A battery-powered wireless sensor in an enclosure approved for food and pharmaceutical production areas. It measures temperature and humidity at regular intervals and transmits data over LoRaWAN.
-
ITS Edge Cabinet — standard versionA prefabricated cabinet running a complete ITS platform instance. It receives data from LoRaWAN gateways over Ethernet, processes it and makes it available locally with history and alarms.
-
LoRaWAN gateways (2 units) View in our store →Gateways installed in the production and storage areas provide full signal coverage across both zones. They connect to ITS Edge Cabinet over Ethernet.
The system is modular. The number of sensors is selected to match the size and layout of production halls and warehouses, covering all critical measurement points such as raw-material storage, cold rooms, production lines and packaging zones.
How it works
Sensors installed across the production hall and warehouse measure ambient temperature and humidity at regular intervals and transmit the data wirelessly using LoRaWAN. The sensor enclosure meets hygienic-area requirements and is approved for use around food and pharmaceutical production.
Data is received by LoRaWAN gateways installed in both areas to provide full signal coverage across the production hall and warehouse. The gateways forward data over Ethernet to ITS Edge Cabinet in the standard version. The cabinet contains a complete, standalone ITS platform instance. Data is processed immediately and available through the local GUI, with measurement history and configurable temperature and humidity alarm thresholds.
Where it works best
Food production
Monitoring conditions across production, packaging, raw-material storage and finished-goods areas.
Pharmaceutical industry
Environmental monitoring in rooms, warehouses and areas where conditions must be documented.
Warehouses and distribution centres
Continuous temperature and humidity supervision across storage, order-picking and dispatch zones.
Cold rooms and freezers
Automatic detection of deviations from defined ranges and rapid alerts when stored-product quality may be at risk.
Auditing and standards compliance
Historical data, alarms and reports available in one place make it easier to demonstrate compliance during inspections and audits.
Cold-chain logistics
A consistent environmental monitoring system for the storage and handling of sensitive goods.
No manual rounds or scattered records
- Manual, periodic readings from thermometers and hygrometers.
- Paper-based or fragmented measurement records.
- Delayed detection of deviations from the required range.
- Time-consuming preparation of audit data.
- Expansion requires additional cabling.
- Automated continuous measurements without staff involvement.
- Centralised data history in a single system.
- Immediate alerts when a threshold is exceeded.
- Audit data ready for export at any time.
- Add a new measurement point without cabling.
Temperature and humidity thresholds can trigger notifications for selected users or teams.
Historical data supports analysis of seasonality, storage quality and process stability.
The system can be expanded gradually with additional sensors, measurement zones, dashboards and integrations.
ITS is the starting point, not the endpoint
Data collected by ITS Edge Cabinet is not locked into a single system. The platform forwards it to the tools already used across your site or organisation.
The systems shown above are examples. ITS can also integrate with other third-party systems selected for the customer’s specific IT environment.
Describe the facility and required measurement points.
For an initial discussion, the approximate number of points, zone types, expected alarm thresholds and information about local or central data access are sufficient.
